Dr. Alexander Pleet is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and the medical, laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma.  As well as delivering high quality comprehensive ophthalmic care to his patients, he is passionate about the early detection and personalized treatment of glaucoma in the quest to prevent visual impairment and blindness from this disease. He has a special interest in cataract surgery in glaucoma patients, and has had extensive training with new minimally invasive glaucoma procedures as well as more complex glaucoma surgeries.

Dr. Pleet grew up in Springfield, MA and graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in Providence, RI with a B.S. in Neuroscience. He was elected to Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, in 2010. He then obtained his M.D. from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. In medical school, he spent time designing and implementing glaucoma research at the Scheie Eye Institute, for which he received the Stuart L. Fine Ophthalmology Medical Student Research Prize. Throughout his medical training, Dr. Pleet maintained an active commitment to volunteer activities including the Sight Savers program at his medical school, which expanded glaucoma screenings in underserved Philadelphia communities.

He completed a Tufts University transitional year internship at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston, MA before moving to Chicago. During his residency in ophthalmology at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at the University of Illinois, he served as a Resident Advocacy Ambassador and was awarded the Resident Teaching Award. In his final year of residency, he served as Chief Resident and was a member of the Residency Program Evaluation Committee. He then completed a fellowship in glaucoma at Northwestern University. He has been active in a variety of academic interests including research in glaucoma, national presentations, and book chapters.

Dr. Pleet is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. His practice specialties include Glaucoma, Cataract, and Comprehensive Ophthalmology.
