- You will be provided with a light snack and beverage.
- The nursing staff will provide you with postoperative instructions that you will be required to follow
- Discharge times vary for each individual patient.
- You must have a responsible driver to take you home. You will NOT be permitted to drive.
- You CANNOT use a cab, bus or shuttle unless a family member or friend accompanies you.
- Transportation provided by an ambulance, wheelchair van or Council on Aging are OK.
- If your surgery is scheduled after 3:00 pm, your driver must stay at the facility for the duration of your stay.
- For your comfort and safety, we highly recommend that you arrange for a responsible adults to stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery, as you may still be feeling the effects of anesthesia.
- During this 24 hour period you should NOT:
- Drive a vehicle
- Drink alcoholic beverages
- Operate machinery or power tool
- Make any important decisions or sign contracts
